Martin
Luther King Jr. Commemoration
Epiphany 2C
The
flowers gracing the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in loving memory
of Louis Oppedisano, father, Petronella Albino, grandmother and Frank Albino,
uncle of Dolores Stillman.
We invite you to
maintain a spirit of silence as the prelude begins our service.
OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit
Welcome
Call to Worship: Psalm 30
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up,
AND DID NOT LET MY FOES REJOICE OVER ME.
O Lord, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life…
SING PRAISES TO THE LORD, O YOU HIS FAITHFUL ONES, AND GIVE THANKS TO GOD’S
HOLY NAME!
*Hymn “They’ll Know We Are
Christians”
Let us be before our God in silence.
Unison Prayer: Psalm
40:11ff
DO NOT, O LORD, WITHHOLD YOUR MERCY FROM ME; LET
YOUR STEADFAST LOVE AND YOUR FAITHFULNESS KEEP ME SAFE FOREVER. FOR EVILS HAVE
ENCOMPASSED ME WITHOUT NUMBER; MY INIQUITIES HAVE OVERTAKEN ME, UNTIL I CANNOT
SEE; THEY ARE MORE THAN THE HAIRS OF MY HEAD; AND MY HEART FAILS ME. BE PLEASED,
O LORD, TO DELIVER ME; O LORD, MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME.
Kyrie (sung)
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US.
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
A Word of Assurance
The Summary of God's Law
(Mk 12:29b-31)
This is the first commandment:
HEAR O ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
This is the second commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.
There is no greater commandment than these.
THE WORD OF GOD
*Responsive Reading: Psalm

AND TO THE SON
AND TO THE HOLY GHOST.
AS IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING,
IS NOW AND EVER SHALL BE,
