Friends of Historic New Utrecht, New Utrecht Liberty Pole
Association and the New Utrecht Reformed
Church invite you to our Annual Liberty Weekend. This year our weekend will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday, June 5th and 6th.
WE INVITE ALL OUR VETERANS GROUPS TO JOIN US IN COMMEMORATING THE 60TH
ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY ON SUNDAY, JUNE 6TH.
This year's events are as follows:
Saturday we will have an encampment of the 14th Brooklyn Regiment, Civil War living historians and the
Cannon of Winslow Battery ‘D’ on the grounds the Reformed Church and historical displays in the Parish House. A tour of the historic New Utrecht Cemetery at 16 Ave & 85th Street will take place at
11:30AM and the InterSchool Orchestra Concert Band conducted by our own Brian Worsdale will give an evening concert at
7:15 PM.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REFORMED CHURCH WILL NOT BE OPENED FOR TOURS DUE TO RENOVATION WORK INSIDE.
Sunday at 11AM there will be an All-Faith Service in the PARISH HOUSE, followed by a parade down LIBERTY POLE BLVD. (84th Street) from 18th Ave. to 16th Ave. to the Nathaniel Woodhull Monument in the 17th century New Utrecht Cemetery.
Chaplain George Munkenbeck of the 14th Brooklyn Regiment Company “H” will conduct a Memorial Ceremony. All veterans past and present will be honored. Closing ceremonies will take place at the Liberty Pole.
