This old Dutch cemetery, dating from 1654, at 16th Ave. and 84th St. in
Brooklyn, recently was given a touch-up by volunteers from the Carmel
Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa, as they were in the East working for
the Staten Island-based Project Hospitality organization. The executive
director of the service for homeless and others in need is the Rev. Terry Troia, who also is
minister of the New Utrecht Reformed Church (RCA), which
has been carefully maintaining its burial ground for more than 300 years.
