Albert Hollenga laid to rest
During service a New Revised Standard Version pulpit bible was presented to New Utrecht Reformed Church by the Hollenga family in memory of Albert. This afternoon, after service we laid to rest the remains of our beloved brother Albert. Please be in prayer for the Hollenga family today. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

Cemetery damaged by effects of Isabel
The New Utrecht Reformed Church Cemetery was damaged last month by the effects of Hurricane Isabel with two trees down and some damage to the cemetery itself. The sidewalks at the perimeter of the cemetery was however, cleared of storm-related debris by a volunteer. A cemetery cleanup will take place on Saturday, October 18th. Please contact Friends of Historic New Utrecht for details.

Scaffolding is erected as sanctuary prepares to close to make repairs
An entire section of pews on the left side of the altar is closed as scaffolding is erected to make repairs on the roof. The historic balcony of the New Utrecht Reformed Church sanctuary is also closed. Very soon the sanctuary itself will also close; services will then be held in the Parish House. Please pray for its restoration.

Our organ needs repair
Please note that in addition to our sanctuary and bell tower needing repairs, our organ, installed in 1948, also needs repair. That is why our organist is at the piano these days. Please pray for its restoration.

Please donate non-perishable food
Non-perishable food can be brought to the sanctuary next Sunday, October 12th, before service, and every second Sunday of the month, to benefit the Brooklyn Council of Churches.

Please help the day laborers by buttering rolls
On this World Communion Sunday, we were involved in the sacred task of feeding the hungry. We prepared buttered rolls in the Parish House after service. The next tentatively scheduled roll buttering will take place on Sunday, October 19th. The buttering rolls, to help the day laborers in Bensonhurst, takes place every other Sunday at the Parish House and is a joint project with Bay Ridge United Church.
