The flowers gracing the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Edith Wildebush, beloved sister of Mae Ruotolo by the Fabiaszak Family.

Let us remember in prayer: Jo Safay, Albert Hollenga, Lucille James, Evelyn Lanfranci, Faith Groesbeck, Tracey Sangham & her new child, Sara.

Traveling mercies to all vacationing this weekend.

Please remember the Rev. Jim Seawood, pastor, and the Congregation of Brighton Heights Reformed Church, in Staten Island. Rev. Seawood, an Army Reserve chaplain, has just been called up for duty in the Mideast. He reports for duty tomorrow and will ship out to the Mideast later this week. We pray for his safe & quick return.

Our thanks to Betty Johnson-Sohm, licensed lay preacher and member of Faith United Methodist Church in Staten Island, for leading our service this morning. Terry will be back next week!

The 2002 General Synod of the Reformed Church in America passed the following resolution regarding possible war in Iraq:

R-126
To instruct the general secretary on behalf of the Reformed Church in America to petition the pertinent governing authorities in the United States of America to take action to bring an end to the devastating embargo against Iraq, recognizing that the embargo has not achieved its stated purpose but has instead led to the unnecessary and enourmous suffering of ordinary people, and to use all possible political and diplomatic means to achieve U.S. policy goals rather than using violence, which will only lead to further destruction and death of innocents and foment ill will throughout the region.
(ADOPTED)

One Day

One day, youngsters will learn words they will not understand.
Children from India will ask:
What is hunger?
Children from Alabama will ask:
What is racial segregation?
Children from Hiroshima will ask:
What is the atomic bomb?
Children at school will ask:
What is war?
You will answer them.
You will tell them:
Those words are used any more
like stage coaches, galleys or slavery
Words no longer meaningful.
That is why they have been removed from dictionaries.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
